Scottsdale Fashion Week kicks off in high gear Nov. 5 with the Milan-inspired Wearable ArtWalk through the Scottsdale Arts District where models prowl the streets in notable one-of-a-kind pieces of ‘art to wear' clothing and jewelry. The event features local, national and international designers and runs through Nov. 7 with runway shows taking place at the Scottsdale Waterfront and SouthBridge districts.

Scottsdale Fashion Week features an 80-foot tented runway that will showcase a selection of leading designers and an outdoor catwalk under the Sonoran Desert stars highlighting up-and-coming tastemakers. For true VIP treatment, head to the luxury Lifestyle Showcase and browse high-end jewelry, watches, hand-crafted clothing and accessories, and jaw-dropping automobiles.

Rufus Wainwright Solo Concert Performance

Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will present a solo concert by singer-songwriter  Rufus Wainwright on Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. Musician Joan as Police Woman will open the performance.

Rufus Wainwright has established himself as one of the great male vocalists and songwriters of his generation. In fact, Elton John affectionately refers to him as "the greatest songwriter on the planet." The son of folk singers Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle and brother of Martha Wainwright, Rufus has carved out his own singular sound in the worlds of rock, opera, theater, dance and film.

Wainwright has released seven albums, most recently a live recording from his Release the Stars tour titled Milwaukee at Last!!!. His previous album, a celebrated tribute to the legendary actress and singer Judy Garland titled Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall, was nominated for a Grammy Award. Wainwright also received JUNO Awards for "Best Alternative Album" in 1999 and 2002.

Wainwright's acclaimed first opera, Prima Donna, premiered at the Manchester International Festival in July 2009 and will make its North American debut in Toronto at the Luminato Festival in 2010. He also composed a musical adaptation of Shakespeare Sonnets with noted director Robert Wilson at the Berliner Ensemble, which premiered in April 2009 and continues to play to sold-out houses.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Wainwright has acted in several films, including The Aviator (2004), directed by Martin Scorsese.

Kids' Take a Hike Camp

The kids spend a day in the desert and learn neat facts about rattlesnakes, scorpions, pack rats, coyotes, bobcats, and mountain lions! They will also learn how to navigate by using a compass and map while hiking . Later in the day, they will use these skills to participate in a scavenger hunt!

ONLY $40 ($35 for each additional sibling) the Camp Adventure includes: Guided hike, pizza, water, snacks, refreshments, a fun, desert themed project, and the use of a backpack.

Part celebration, part art exhibit, part music and beer festival, and all environmentally friendly, Green Street Scottsdale will celebrate the city's sustainability efforts.  This free event will kick off with a special ArtWalk in the Scottsdale Arts District at 7 p.m. along Main Street and Marshall Way in downtown Scottsdale. The event continues at the SouthBridge and Scottsdale Waterfront districts with a live Latin Jazz concert, servings by green breweries, eco-friendly public art installations and interactive exhibits that highlight Scottsdale's green projects.
