Arts & Eats in Old Town

Start your day by visiting the dozens of art galleries on Marshall Way and Main Street, which feature artistic styles ranging from hard-core Western to boundary-pushing contemporary. Art One (4120 N. Marshall Way), which features emerging artists, is very gay friendly. Also check out the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (7374 E. 2nd Street), the only museum in Arizona devoted to the art, architecture and design of our time. It’s appropriately located, as Scottsdale has arguably the most sophisticated contemporary art scene in the state.

Spend the afternoon exploring other shops in the Downtown Scottsdale Arts, Shopping & Entertainment District, and take a ride on the free city-operated trolley. If it’s Thursday, make plans to take in the free Scottsdale ArtWalk hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

For dinner, try Stingray Sushi (4302 N. Scottsdale Rd.), which features some of the best sushi in town and the largest variety. A hip location for a cocktail as well.

Finish off the evening by visiting BS West (7125 E. 5th Ave.), a two-level video bar that features darts, pool, karaoke and a very popular 2-for-1 night on Wednesdays.
